Erian Powers
2nd Degree Senior Black Belt
After being forced by her parents to try taekwondo at age 8 to help build her confidence, little did that once very shy girl know how much taekwondo would soon become a major part of her life.Erian began her taekwondo journey under the instruction of Mr. Bill Shaw. Almost two years later, Mrs. Lacy, Erian’s taekwondo idol and the person she had spent hours watching demos of online, became her chief instructor. Mrs. Lacy pushed Erian to become a better martial artist, and to be a role model to others.
Ms. Powers has come a long day since that first class in June 2010, competing in many tournaments and receiving multiple golds and a couple of near perfect scores along the way, but by far her favorite accomplishment thus far was the day she received her 1st Degree decided black belt. Although receiving her black belt was a great moment, being named Mrs. Lacy’s first ever Valley Ranch Taekwondo student of the Year comes in a very close second!
These days, Erian continues to work to become a better student and instructor. When school is not in session, you can almost always find her at the taekwondo school, otherwise she enjoys playing volleyball and band for her school, playing video games and of course shopping!!
